MAJOR PAINT CORRECTION
Whats involved?
Major paint correction is the highest level of detailing giving the best possible results, producing the glossiest perfect paint, better than show room condition. Major correction is mainly used for used cars that need some extra care after poor care in previous life. A very time consuming process involving multiple amounts of cutting passes as well as multiple passes of refinement to achieve the perfect finish.
Paint correction requires a lot of knowledge and skill into what condition the paint work is in, therefore we aim to achieve around 95% correction. Sometimes 100% correction is not always possible, this may be due to the thickness of the paint, some areas may have thinner lacquer than others and we don't want to risk breaking through the paint.
Time taken 4/5 days.
The process..
EXTERIOR
- Citrus pre wash and snow foam
- Door shuts cleaned
- Arches degreased
- Two bucket method wash using ph neutral shampoo
- Decontamination to remove any tar from paintwork
- Snow foam again to ensure all chemical is removed
- Vehicle clay barred to remove any bonded contaminants
- Vehicle brought into bay and wheels taken off
- Multi point inspection to the paint work with all defects marked down and paint depth taken
- Plastic and trims masked up
- Multiple cutting passes carried out
- Multiple refinement passes to achieve the best gloss levels
- Vehicle is blown down and panel wiped to remove any remaining polishing oils and dust
- Ceramic coating applied (ceramic discussed with customer upon booking)
- Wheels panel wiped then ceramic coated (faces and barrels)
- All exterior glass machine polished and ceramic coated (to help with visibility in wet weather)
- Door shuts polished and protected
- Wheels back on, tyre dressing applied
- Exhaust work polished
- Multi point check over the vehicle
INTERIOR
- Vehicle mats removed
- Hoovered throughout
- Seats cleaned (leather or upholstery)
- All plastics cleaned and protected
- Glass cleaned
- Mats cleaned and stripped and back in vehicle
